Displaying foods in a creative and fun way for any occasion makes the celebration just that more festive! This can however, get costly. And looking for just the right item at a great low price is a time consuming challenge. Why not instead use that time to create exactly what is needed to make the table complete?

Enlist the kids to save even more time. Children love to create and creating a fun or beautiful look for the table is a wonderful way to let loose their creative side. Also, just imagine how proud they will feel as the guests to the party are complimenting their fine work.

The Summer Olympics are upon us and many people are throwing parties for friends and relatives so they can all enjoy the events together. A great way to make this party more delightful would be by creating a fabulous, homemade Olympic table to lay the food on.

For instance, one could create the podium on which the athletes get medaled. One could go as elaborate as to use clay, or as simple as three strong cardboard boxes, decorated and covered to resemble this podium. Then place a wonderful dip in the gold spot, and two different chips in each the silver and bronze spots. It is a display that will enhance the entire look and feel of the table.

One could also, for fun, make cardboard torches, fill them with fruits and turn them on their sides like for a wonderful Olympic cornucopia. Depending on the event that is being viewed that day, the way the food is displayed can reflect the same event.

If the event is swimming then what would be better than serving punch out of a homemade swimming pool? To do this, get a large white rectangular plastic tub. Holes can be poked in the edges so swimming lanes can be created. Using shoelace licorice, tie to the edges and drape across the tub and tie it again on the other side. Repeat to create however many lanes are needed. Then add a light blue punch.

These are just a few suggestions of how one can display their food by using homemade displays. It is a fun project for the entire family. Let the imagination of each person in the family free and watch the table go from drab to fab with a simple stroke of the mind.
